Question: At Eatmore grocery store, you can buy seven cans of tomatoes for 6.00 dollars. The cans are the same size as the cans at CannedStuff. Are the tomatoes at Eatmore a better buy than the tomatoes at CannedStuff? Explain your answer.
Answer: The tomatoes at Eatmore are better buy if your goal is to buy as many cans as possible with the least amount of money, because at Eatmore you get 7 cans for 6 dollars and 7 divided by 6 is 1.16, so that means that one can at Eatmore is 1.16 dollars. Then the cans at CannedStuff are 4.00 dollars for 5 cans so 5 divided by 4 is 1.25 and 1.16 is smaller than 1.25, so Eatmore price is better.
